The background to the Survivors' Guide

The work on the Survivors Guide started in 2014 when the E-delegation designated “Becoming a survivor” as one of four prioritized life events for the authorities’ joint e-collaboration. The Swedish Pensions Agency was then tasked with leading the work together with other central actors.

The website was launched in 2016. The development was based on interviews with people who have lost a loved one and conversations with funeral homes, among others. Particular focus was placed on the situation of those who lose their life partner – a life event that often raises both many practical questions and strong emotions.
